Ferrari’s brand-new twin-turbo V8-powered 488 chassis underwent its initial shakedown on Friday.

The replacement for the current naturally-aspirated F458 will continue testing this month as the car is prepared for the ACO/FIA’s World Endurance Championship, and IMSA’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship next season in their respective GTE and GT Le Mans classes.

“It ran yesterday for the first time; I’m going to jump in the car on the 27th of August, and I’m looking forward to it,” Risi Competizione driver Giancarlo Fisichella told IMSA Radio’s John Hindhaugh. “It looks like a fantastic car—it’s a beautiful car.”

Risi team manager Dave Sims added: “We won’t be involved in the test on the 27th, but we will be looking for the reports,” he told RACER. “And [team owner] Giuseppe Risi should have an idea next week on where we’ll slot in after that with the car.”
