24H Le Mans with the Endurance Racing Legends by Peter Auto

Two Endurance Racing Legends races, held during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will bring together some of the most outstanding cars of the 1990’s and 2000’s era.

Emmanuel Collard, 24 entries at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be back at the wheel of the factory Porsche 911 GT1, chassis 005, which he led the event for more than six hours in 1997. His team mate Ralf Kelleners was leading the race when the car was stopped on fire at the end of the Mulsanne straight, 2 hours and 15 minutes before the end. This car, which retains a strong brand identity despite its shape, is one of the inspirations for the new Hypercar regulations which come into effect this year for endurance races (WEC).

Waiting for the official return of the Scuderia in 2023, fans will be delighted to see seven of the brand’s models on track, with two Ferrari 550 Maranello Prodrive, including the chassis 3 which took pole position (3:54.091) in the GTS class in 2002 thanks to Tomáš Enge. A regular competitor of the Endurance Racing Legends, the 2003 Bentley Speed 8 will be driven by Shaun Lynn, father of the young and talented Alex Lynn who is competing in the LMP2 class at Le Mans this year.

Another interest will be the presence of a 2005 Maserati MC12 GT1, a car never seen at the 24 Hours because it was rejected beeing too wide for the GT1 series. The public will also appreciate the presence of a Dallara SP1 with which the “little thumb” Oreca gave the  favourites Audi a hard time in 2002. In addition to its beautiful blue livery, this car will shake the grandstands with the sound of his V10 Judd.

Many other outstanding cars of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be on track, such as the Marcos LM500 (1994), Toyota Supra GT2 (1995), Morgan Plus 8 GTR (1996), Ferrari 360 Modena N-GT (2000), Dodge Viper GTS-R (2000), MG-Lola EX257 (2004), Aston Martin DBR9 (2007)…
