The Ferrari 348 GT Michelotto Competizione

The Ferrari 348 GT Michelotto Competizione was produced in limited numbers, with just 11 built and only 4 making their way into the United States. Nine were never raced and put directly into private collections. The Michelotto tuned 348 GTs were given stock engines with modifications that brought 360 bhp with reconfigured fuel mapping and F40 half-shafts. The body was modified with a Lexan rear window and lightweight alloy panels for the engine cover and deck lid. Carbon fibre was used throughout the car for the doors, bumpers and the under tray, supplementary ducts feeding cool air to the rear brakes. 15-inch Brembo disc brakes were covered by 18-inch Speedline center-locking five-spoke magnesium wheels. The suspension was given fully adjustable Koni dampers and a revised geometry. Gussets were installed around the engine bay to increase the structural rigidity. All non-essential interior items were removed in an effort to reduce the overall weight. The interior was at the same time fitted with an FIA-spec roll cage. The stock pedals were replaced with drilled aluminium pedals. Racing seats and a racing steel completed the interior modifications.

The 348 GT Michelotto Competizione we are offering here is chassis 99107, equipped with original engine 36463. It is one of only 11 cars produced and one of just 4 examples supplied new to the US market. 99107 was shipped to Florida’s largest factory-authorized Ferrari dealer, Shelton Sports Cars, on December 16th 1994. In order to accommodate American FIA regulations, it had been ordered with a special fire-extinguisher system and Momo race seats in addition to all other original Michelotto modifications. 99107 was initially owned by two private collectors until it was acquired by highly respected Texan collector John O’Quinn. After O’Quinn’s sudden passing in 2009, 99107 was sold to current European owner. The car was never raced and only used sparingly for track days and parades throughout its whole life. In 2019 the car went through and extensive mechanical service including full engine check with cam belts replacement, full transmission rebuild as well as a brake purge.
In the current owner’s hands for the last decade and showing a mere 3,500 original km on the clock, 99107 represents a very rare opportunity and would enhance any Ferrari collection.

This Group B Ferrari 308 GTB is driven by dirt and disruption

Car is for sale by Girardo & Co. – details and more pictures https://www.fchgt.com/cars-for-sale-3/

With Ferrari’s blessing, Michelotto built just four of these 308 GTBs to Group B specification in the early 1980s, which means that in the rarefied world of thoroughbred prancing horses, this slender-hipped dirt devourer is an elusive beast indeed…

Chassis Number: F142MGT34218

This car has always been serviced by Michelotto for everything and run strictly to their recommended mileages. It’s a great car. £40k has just been spent on it back at Michelotto for brand new exhaust manifolds and engine ancillaries  etc.

The new gearbox in the car only has 4000kms on it and the engine was last (major) serviced at Michelotto at 15563kms total and has covered 8915km since then, so has minimum 6000kms left before next rebuild is required. It also has a £10k carbon clutch installed.

All of it’s history is fully documented.
