Chassis 2868 was delivered new to the legendary Japanese “Team Taisan” in 2013 to be driven in all four rounds of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest’s Asian Le Mans Series – in the LM GTE category of the by a line up including ex-Formula-One driver Kamui Kobayashi. The car won all four races, hence claiming the 2013 Title and earning an entry into the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours. They also became the first team in history to win all four rounds in one season.

For Le Mans in 2014, due to commitments in Japan team owner Ricky Chiba decided to run the car with the support of the German team Farnbacher. At the test day ex-Formula One driver Shinji Nakano was joined by Martin Rich and for the main event itself Le Mans Veteran and Ferrari enthusiast Pierre Ehret also joined the driver line up. Despite problems in qualifying the trio battled hard in the race and managed to finish an impressive 8th In Class and 28th overall.

Following Le Mans the car was duly returned to Michelotto to be refreshed for its next race. The December 2014 invoice on file, totalling €47,352 euro (tax-free), denotes engine and gearbox rebuilds in addition to various remedial works. It then returned to Japan but was not raced again and aside from display at a Ferrari Club of Japan event remained in storage. The car had clearly left a good impression on its 2014 Le Mans driver line-up as in 2017 one of them re-purchased the car for his own personal collection. Another visit to Michelotto in 2019 ensures the car wants for nothing.

This exceptional example of Ferrari’s final naturally aspirated GT race car is presented in immaculate condition and is an important part of Ferraris long and rich history of GT racing, especially at Le Mans – it is one of very few cars to have never suffered a DNF. Interest in this era of GT race car has been gathering momentum over the last few years and as a result values are beginning to rise strongly, especially as the cars are eligible to be used in some fantastic events including racing again with the Masters Endurance Legends, which features races across the globe, as a potential invitation to the “Endurance Racing Legends” Series which has a race at Le Mans or perhaps most interestingly Ferrari’s own Club Competizioni GT, which has an exciting calendar for 2023.

  • Limited-run of around 25 track-only cars worldwide
  • Elligible for Club Competizioni GT Series from Ferrari, the third most prestigious Ferrari racing series after F1 and XX-programm
  • Much more durable technology than XX-cars, as much as four times more robust engine
  • Unparalleled performance on track

HISTORY

The Ferrari 488 GT Modificata is a remarkable track-only vehicle that embodies Ferrari’s decades-long expertise in motorsport engineering and innovation. Building on the success of the Ferrari 488 GT3 and 488 GTE, this limited-production car bridges the gap between endurance racing technology and private track-day performance.

At its core lies an enhanced version of Ferrari’s award-winning 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing over 700 horsepower. This iteration surpasses the performance limits imposed on the GT3 and GTE models by racing regulations, offering a purer expression of the car’s capabilities. The engine is paired with a reinforced transmission, engineered to handle the increased power and sustained high-performance demands of circuit driving.

The aerodynamic design of the 488 GT Modificata is a direct evolution of Ferrari’s racing experience. Drawing from the 488 GTE, the car features extensive carbon fiber construction, a large rear diffuser, and an adjustable rear wing. Together, these elements generate increased downforce for exceptional stability and control at high speeds, allowing the car to maintain precise handling during aggressive cornering.

The suspension system, derived from the 488 GTE, is specifically tuned to offer unparalleled responsiveness and performance on the track. Stopping power comes from a state-of-the-art Brembo carbon-ceramic braking system, inspired by Ferrari’s Formula 1 technology. These brakes provide consistent and reliable performance under the intense demands of track driving.

Inside, the 488 GT Modificata stays true to its racing roots. The interior is stripped of unnecessary luxuries, focusing instead on functionality and driver engagement. It includes FIA-approved racing seats, a roll cage, and a digital interface that displays real-time telemetry, ensuring the driver has access to critical performance data during every lap.

Historically, the Modificata continues Ferrari’s tradition of creating exclusive, track-focused cars for its most passionate clients. The term “Modificata” itself pays homage to Ferrari’s history, often used to describe models that have been significantly modified for enhanced performance. Limited in production, the 488 GT Modificata is a testament to Ferrari’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering, offering owners a car that not only reflects the brand’s racing heritage but also allows them to experience it firsthand on the track.

OUR 488 GT Modificata

Our example is a one-owner, German car, which was painstakingly maintained by AF-Corse before and after every race. It totals around 5,000km today and is accompanied by three sets of wheels and tires. Currently fully maintained and race-ready, our example will benefit from a service at AF-Corse prior to delivery.

This represents a unique opportunity to acquire one of the very limited run of track-only 488 GT Modificata, which are eligible to enter Ferrari’s third most prestigious race series, the Club Competizioni GT. It is important to note that these cars are much more robust and require a lot less maintenance than their equivalent sisters of the XX-program, which require an engine rebuild every 5,000km (for a 488 GT Modificata, an engine rebuild is recommended at around 20,000km).

The 488 is located at our Munich showroom and can be inspected on appointment.

The 2007 Ferrari F430 GTC, bearing chassis number F131EVOGTC 2614, is slated for auction at Gooding & Company’s Amelia Island Auctions in 2025. This model represents Ferrari’s commitment to motorsport excellence, designed specifically for endurance racing. Story about the car HERE

The Ferrari F430 GTC was developed for GT2-class endurance racing in collaboration with Michelotto Automobili. Based on the road-going F430, the GTC featured a 4.0-liter tipo 131 naturally aspirated V-8 engine, slightly reduced from the road version’s 4.3-liter unit to meet class regulations. The engine produced around 449 hp at 7,500 rpm, paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox for fast gearshifts. Lightweight pistons and a redesigned intake system helped improve engine efficiency and durability.

The F430 GTC utilized an aluminum space-frame chassis and carbon fiber for aerodynamic elements, including the rear wing, front splitter, and diffuser. Weighing approximately 2,425 pounds, it was significantly lighter than the road version. Brembo brakes were upsized over standard, providing superior stopping power and heat resistance, essential for endurance racing. The suspension system was fully adjustable, allowing teams to fine-tune settings for different tracks.

Aerodynamic refinements included widened bodywork, optimized cooling ducts, and increased downforce, enhancing stability and grip. Built between 2006 and 2010, the F430 GTC achieved multiple class victories, including wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and numerous ALMS championships, solidifying its legacy as one of Ferrari’s most successful GT2 race cars.

This example, chassis F131EVOGTC 2614, is one of just 24 F430 GTCs built and sold new in 2008 to the BMS Scuderia Italia race team. Founded by Italian businessman and enthusiast Giuseppe Lucchini in 1980, the team initially competed in the World Touring Car Championship and later in Formula 1 from 1988 to 1993. However, BMS Scuderia Italia achieved greater success in sports car and endurance racing, securing class victories at prestigious events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Participating in the fiercely competitive FIA GT2 class during 2008 and 2009, this F430 GTC demonstrated reliability, with notable finishes including 14th at the Tourist Trophy at Silverstone in April 2008, 15th at Monza in May 2008, 16th at the Nogaro 2 Hours in October 2008, and 17th at the two-hour race in Hungary in August 2009.

In 2010, this F430 GTC was sold to well-known motor sports enthusiast James Glickenhaus. Intended to serve as a test bed for the development of a future proprietary Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) racing car, the project did not progress as anticipated, and this F430 GTC has remained largely unused since its acquisition. One of only 24 GTCs built and campaigned in FIA GT championships, 2614 – currently finished in Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) and devoid of any livery – remains a highly capable racer.
