Think I will be going to Silverstone twice this year now.... WEC and Blancpain.
Just hope it's much warmer than it was last year for the ELMS and WEC!

James Calado has been announced as the third and final driver for Kaspersky Motorsport’s step up to the Pro class Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.

Alongside his FIA World Endurance Championship program with AF Corse, the Brit joins Giancarlo Fisichella and Marco Cioci in the Kaspersky-backed Ferrari 488 GT3.

“I’m very happy to be a part of the Kaspersky Motorsport family,” Calado said.

“It’s going to be a big challenge for us, but I know the team very well already and I am sure that together with my experienced team-mates, we can have a very good season.

“The new car is fantastic to drive and the fight on the track is going to be fierce, which is what we are all looking forward to!”

The team announced its Pro Cup effort in November, as part of an increased presence in the Blancpain GT Series from and Ferrari.

“The Blancpain Endurance Cup is becoming increasingly important in the world of GT racing,” commented Antonello Coletta, director of Ferrari GT and Corse Clienti.

“”We have therefore enthusiastically agreed to support Kaspersky Motorsport, which will deploy a Ferrari 488 GT3 in the overall class in partnership with AF Corse.

“We are making two of our drivers available: James Calado and Giancarlo Fisichella, who will race together with Marco Cioci. So we wish the very best of luck to Kaspersky Motorsport and its drivers for a 2017 packed with success.”

Blancpain Endurance Cup: Kaspersky Motorsport has announced that James Calado will join Giancarlo Fisichella and Marco Cioci at the wheel of the Ferrari 488 GT3 operated by AF Corse in the GT3 PRO category. A second Ferrari 488 GT3 has been confirmed in this class and it will be entered by AF Corse. In this circumstance the drivers will be Alessandro Pier Guidi, Michele Rugolo and Pasin Lathouras, who will take on this challenge together for the second season in a row. All the three Ferrari factory aces undertaking these programmes will be able to compete in the series organized by the SRO Motorsports Group given that there are no clashes with the WEC and IWSC. As previously reported, another Ferrari 488 GT3 is expected to participate in the Blancpain Endurance Cup or even in the entire Blancpain GT Series in GT3 PRO under the SMP Racing banner and with AF Corse’s support; more details about this project will be revealed in the next weeks. On the competition front Emil Frey Racing will line up two Jaguar G3s, while Ombra Racing will bring on track a Lamborghini Huracán GT3. RJN Motorsport, which will no more utilize the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN name, will be on the grid with two Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3s, but a return for the British squad in the Blancpain Sprint Cup is currently unlikely. Two Teams have also joined the GT3 PRO AM field in these days. In fact, despite Motorbase Performance’s decision to take a sabbatical year from GT3 racing, the Oman Racing Team Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 will remain in the Blancpain Endurance Cup thanks to TF Sport’s technical assistance. Barwell Motorsport will be present as well and will manage two Lamborghini Huracán GT3s. In closing we report that Walkenhorst and HB Racing have committed to the Blancpain Endurance Cup too; they will run two BMW M6 GT3s and a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 respectively, but still have to disclose in which category they want to race.

***Kaspersky Motorsport will add at least two more races alongside its Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup program. While the team has opted for a full Pro lineup in the SRO-run series, Alex Moiseev, the managing director for Kaspersky Lab Europe. will compete with Giancarlo Fisichella in the International GT Open rounds at Paul Ricard and Spa.
