250 GTO Replica - Sacrilege or understandable desire?

Post by Monte_Christo »

First of all: i am not a friend of fakes!
My watches are not from a beach seller in italy and my chlothes are not from a turkish bazar.
in short: i hate fakes!

but when i think of the beauty of a 250 gto, i get a warm feeling in my chest.
This car is just amazing.

and as it is with men: i like it --- I WANT IT!!!

Unfortunately, the original is not affordable for me (i guess i am not standing alone with this).

My question: is it a shame to think about buying a replica?

why would you buy a replica rather than just buying another Ferrari that suits your budget?
and, if you are just a fan of the design, then you might buy a scale model of the GTO...

because its not just the same.

Standing in front of a car or staring at a little scale model is completely different and not comparable.

when you go to an car expo you do the same. You dont drive or touch them. you are just standing in front of these wonderful cars and feel overwhelmed by the grandiose design. i never had this feeling while looking at scale models. Did you?

I know what you mean but no matter how good the replica would be - it would never feel like "the real deal" for you. You´d still be staring at the original.

I dont see why you shouldn't. Its quite rare and very expensive.
I have seen very impressive builts on the internet.

You should do whatever feels good. If you are happy with it, its all what counts.

Some GTO-replicas look like exactly as Original - BUT - it is a replica.
Every original car is wellknown (incl. whole history) - so it is always clear that you drive a replica. Not my world.

Well... I'm not so strict.
See it just as a big model car with fancy schmancy features, such as sound and moving parts!
