This 1995 Ferrari F355 is one of 108 Challenge models produced and was first sold by Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, New York.
The car reportedly served as a support vehicle at the Coppa Milano-Sanremo road rally and was driven at COTA, Mont Tremblant, and Road America before being listed on BaT in March 2018 and acquired by the seller in 2019.
Power comes from a 3.5-liter quad-cam V8 that was last rebuilt in 2014 and is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. A repaint in red was carried out in 2008.
This F355 Challenge is offered in California with a copy of the Ferrari Certificate of Origin, an SCCA logbook, service records, a spare set of wheels, a set of cylinder heads, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The Challenge featured a rear wing and a black mesh rear grille as well as solid suspension bushings and competition springs. This example was repainted in its factory Rosso Corsa by The Pit Stop of Brisbane, California in January 2008 along with application of new vinyl livery. A walk-around video has been provided by the seller.
White 18″ Speedline magnesium alloy wheels are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires. An additional set of wheels is included in the sale. Braking is handled by Brembo calipers paired with 14″ slotted rotors. Brake and suspension overhauls were performed by The Pit Shop in November 2008, while the brake ducts, ABS sensor, and power steering pump were replaced in March 2014 along with service of the shocks, wheel bearings, and brakes.
The cockpit features Cobra Imola racing seats and OMP harnesses that were fitted in 2014, while new seat brackets were installed and the gauges rewired in December 2015. Additional features include a roll cage, a fire suppression system, engine and battery cut-off switches, and an aluminum center tunnel with a gated shifter.
A quick-release Momo steering wheel frames AutoMeter instruments including a rotated tachometer with a shift light and readouts for oil pressure and coolant temperature. Oil temperature and fuel gauges are mounted in the aluminum center console along with a counter showing just over 229 engine hours. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.5-liter dry-sump V8 features a Bosch Motronic ignition system, five valves per cylinder, and dual overhead camshafts. Engine rebuilds were performed by The Pit Stop in November 2008 and March 2014, with invoices from the work viewable in the gallery below. A new V-belt and alternator were installed in December 2015. An additional set of cylinder heads is included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle. A new clutch was installed in March 2014, and the mufflers and brackets were coated with Jet-Hot in December 2015. A new CV boot was installed under previous ownership in 2018.
The Ferrari Certificate of Origin copy confirms that the car was delivered from the factory in Challenge specification and delivered to Wide World of Cars on February 22, 1996. Service records from 2007 to December 2015 totaling over $160k can be seen in detail in the gallery.
