430 GT2 - Auction Retromobile Paris

Post by Deybit » Mon 14. Nov 2016, 17:41

Another Ferrari 430 GT2 comes up to an auction.
This is one of the late '08 chassis delivered to BMS Scuderia Italia (GT1 World Champions with the glorious 550 GT1, etc) #2616

Nice unit that should sell at high price. Spa 24H winner in GT2 class, Le Mans 24H P2 in GT2.
Plus FIA GT, Le Mans Series.

I think normal price for this unit should be, 380 - 450 k€. But i also would like to know when the engine was revised by last time.
Maybe at no reserve is a chance to get it at good price, who knows?

Owner wants 300.000,-- for the Ferrari, but it's no reserve, so you never know what happens.

Cool car with good history, will be interesting to follow.

There are also som racing Porsches with no reserve.

Discription of the 430 GT2

450 bhp 3,996 cc DOHC aluminium V-8 engine with Magnetti Marelli MRV8 multipoint electronic fuel injection, six-speed manual paddle-shift transmission, front and rear independent suspension with coil springs and anti-roll bar, and four-wheel carbon fibre-reinforced silicon carbide ceramic composite ventilated disc brakes. Wheelbase: 2,600 mm

Winner of the 2008 24 Hours of Spa
One of approximately 53 examples built
Bought new and raced by the BMS Scuderia Italia during 2008 and 2009
Maintained in a private collection since 2010
One private owner since new
Documented with Ferrari Certificate of Origin

In 2006, Ferrari introduced a replacement for the 360 GTC based on the new F430 platform. In order to satisfy FIA rules, the new model was powered by a smaller 4-litre version of the standard rear-placed V-8, which was tuned for improved output despite intake restrictions.

Classified for GT2 racing and offered to preferred clients and privateers, the model went on to become a dominant force in the FIA GT Championship and ALMS, winning the GT2 Manufacturers’ Cup and Drivers’ titles in 2006 and 2007, the ALMS GT2 Manufacturers’ title in 2007, and the GT2 class at Le Mans in 2008. It is believed that approximately 53 examples were built in total.

Chassis number 2616 was purchased new by the BMS Scuderia Italia, the successful semi-works racing team founded by Giuseppe Lucchini. After campaigning an Aston Martin DBR9 for two years, BMS switched to Ferrari for the 2008 season, and Davide Rigon and Joel Camathias leapt out of the gate at Silverstone on 20 April with a 6th in class and 19th-overall finish. The duo achieved similar results at Monza a month later before the car tackled Le Mans on 14 June. There, Fabio Babini, Matteo Malucelli, and Paolo Ruberti achieved a 22nd overall and 2nd in class.

The Ferrari’s greatest triumph transpired at the 24 Hours of Spa on 3 August, where the car was driven to outright victory by Rigon, Camathias, Malucelli, and Ruberti. Consistent finishes followed at venues like Bucharest, Nogaro, and Zolder before the season’s conclusion. Results during 2009 included 19th overall and 2nd in class at Le Mans, 9th overall and 3rd in class at Budapest and Agarve, and 7th overall and 2nd in class at Zolder.

After the 2009 season, chassis number 2616 was retired and refurbished by BMS Scuderia to as-new condition. After refurbishment, the car was put into the personal collection of one of the team’s principals, who is now offering it for sale for the first time ever. The beautiful F430 GTC is now offered from private ownership for the first time and promises its next caretaker scintillating performances during hot laps or commemorative runs. It is documented with a Ferrari Certificate of Origin dated 9 January 2008, as well as a personalized Le Mans postcard featuring the car and BMS team drivers. As the winner of the 2008 24 Hours of Spa, this unique competition car is an undeniable component of Maranello’s modern racing lore. Seeing how many cars suffered accidents during their racing careers, this is an exceedingly rare opportunity to acquire a car in as-new condition making a peerless addition to any collection.
