Road legal Challenge cars

Post by leopard881 »

The topic is a must...- the idea is to focus on the primarily non-roadgoing late Challenge cars 360CH, 430CH, 458CH
Let's start with this old video:

Does anyone know more about this particular 458CH, and how it made its way onto public roads?

Good idea with the thread.

From my understanding there are no (!) official road legal CHs after the 355. All 360, 430 etc. are, lets call it "hand made" street legal.

I fully agree - all cars after the early 355 must be adapted to a certain point to become roadworthy. It is thus interesting to see, how many of such adapted cars are existing and what had to be adapted in which country to get these beasts on the road.

In the USA only 1994 348 and 1995 355's are road legal. Besides the title they must be OBD2 starting in 1996

Street legal challenge car in the US is very rare. Yes you can drive anything with tricks but REAL is RARE here

Currently I have 3 street Challenge cars

1996 are not road legal in US? Really, only 95? Why?

1996 cars in the USA must be OBD2, the 355 challenge cars are ODB1
All 1996 and newer cars must be able to "plug in" to the emission test
