In 1993 Ferrari launched the 348 Challenge racing series in Europe, a single series gentlemans cup. These cars were standard specification 348's, converted to Challenge spec by an official Ferrari dealer. The factory supplied a Challenge kit, which took 110 working hours to install. This kit included a full OMP rollcage, racing seats and harnesses. Also a fire extinguisher, additional cooling ducts for front and rear brakes, and 18" Speedline magnesium wheels were fitted. The ECU was upgraded to allow 7800 rpm and to deliver 320 bhp, and a lower gearing for 1st and 2nd gear was installed. It was a proper race car, with improved brakes and stiffened and lowered suspension.
The example we have now on offer is quite a well known one. Delivered new by Garage Auvergne Moteurs, official Ferrari dealer in Beaumont (France), and immediately converted to Challenge specification for the first owner Mr. Christian Heinkele. He raced the car in the West Series of the 348 Challenge championship during three years, and with good results. In the first year (1993), Mr. Heinkele finished 11th, in 1994 he finished 5th and finally in 1995 he won the championship with his 348. After him, two successive French owners used the car on the road, and it finally arrived in a private collection where it was kept in perfect condition. This 348 still has all its correct Challenge details, including the original cage and seats, and is European road registered. There comes a huge file with the car with many invoices and race results, which give a good and detailed overview of its history.
Driving this 348 Challenge is an experience you won't easily forget. The engine produces a gorgeous sound - even at idle - and it does ride like a proper competition car with a precise steering feel, impressive performance and matching brakes. This is the kind of car which gives you goosebumps everytime you start the engine, and which feels very special every single minute.
A 348 Challenge is quite a rare car, and finding one in this condition and with road registration is really difficult. This Ferrari looks dropdead gorgeous in its yellow livery with anthracite wheels, and a real sensation when you're behind the wheel. This is probably one of the coolest cars we ever had in stock.

a rare opportunity, but with 73k mileage...
would be nice to take bets on how long this car will sit there for sale - particularly after all the comments on the recent cheap US 348ts auction sale...
anyone providing a forecast when the car will be sold and what for?

The 348 should be brought back in the liverie as raced with Stickers, then it Looks totaly different. The asking Price is more then fair. Some missing parts, but OK.
Re: For SALE - 1992 Ferrari 348 TB Challenge in Belgium
Very good car, history is very good and absolutely fair price!
Re: For SALE - 1992 Ferrari 348 TB Challenge in Belgium
What are the missing part? Also I understand that serving including cambelts which is quite costly has not been done.
Re: For SALE - 1992 Ferrari 348 TB Challenge in Belgium
Sure there are parts missing, starts with the braking air cool, seats (leather), some small parts like hooks etc.,...
But the car seems to be interesting with a fair Price. Not the big racing Story, but good.
And we dont know the mech. condition.

Isn't a TB challenge more desirable for track use than a TS challenge ?

That's a matter of taste ... I would also prefer a TB, but...Laferrari wrote:Isn't a TB challenge more desirable for track use than a TS challenge ?
